The plan, written down before you need it.

Recovery is easier to sustain when the reasons are written down before you need them. Where Day One holds the number, North Star holds the structure: your reasons, your warning signs, the people you can call, and what to do at 2am.

You write it in daylight, on a day you are well enough to think clearly, and you read it at the hour when thinking clearly is the thing you cannot do. Nothing in it is a surprise. Every line of it is already in your own words.

§ I — The program

Written in daylight,
for the hour you have none.

What North Star holds, what it refuses to do with it, and the word attached to a price that is not printed yet.

Your reasons, in your own words

The first sheet is the one nobody thinks to write until it is too late to write it: why you are doing this, in the sentences you would use to a friend rather than the ones a clinician would use to a chart.

It is not a mission statement and there is no template to fill in. Three lines is a complete plan if three lines are true.

The reasons

Warning signs, named before they arrive

Yours are specific: a particular hour, a particular street, a particular tone in a particular voice, the second night of bad sleep. A generic checklist of symptoms cannot hold any of that, so North Star does not offer one.

Written down in advance, a warning sign stops being a mood and becomes something you can recognise while it is happening — which is the only moment recognising it is any use.

The signs

The people you can call, and the first sentence

A list of names is not a plan. The plan is the name, the hour they are actually awake, and the opening line you already decided on — because at 2am the hardest part is not dialling, it is knowing what to say once someone answers.

Nothing is ever sent for you. North Star does not message, alert, or escalate to anyone on your behalf; every call is one you place yourself.

The list

The next right action, decided in advance

Not a life plan — the next twenty minutes. Leave the room, eat something, call the second name, be somewhere with a light on. Small, literal, and chosen when you were in a state to choose well.

You read it rather than write it. That is the whole point of having written it.

The next action

The word attached to a price that is not printed yet

Pricing published before launch. There is no figure on this page because there is no figure yet, and inventing one to make a page look finished is how a product starts lying before it ships. When there is a price it is printed here first, plainly, before anything can be bought.

It will not be a trial that becomes a subscription while you are not looking, and there will be no tier holding a better version of your own plan behind it. Thirty days, money back, no reasons asked attaches to whatever price is published — it is a term of the house, not a courtesy that can be withdrawn.

Private by construction — on-device. No ads, no engagement mechanics. We will not add an account requirement later, we will not sell what you wrote, and we will not use it to train anything.

The house's word

A plan does not promise the night will be easy. It removes one job from the worst hour of it: you are no longer deciding what to do, you are reading what you already decided.

Standing prohibitions

Five things North Star will not do, held as terms of the program rather than as a roadmap that can quietly change.

  • No streaks, badges or confetti — the count belongs to Day One, and this is not a game
  • No feed, cohort, or peer chat — nobody else reads your plan
  • No engagement mechanics, and no notification designed to bring you back for our sake
  • No message, alert, or escalation sent to another person on your behalf, ever
  • No ads, no data sold or brokered, and nothing you wrote used to train a model
§ II

§ II — The price

Published before it is
charged.

What a price will be attached to, printed while there is still no price to print.

Pricing at launch

Announced at launch

North Star is not priced yet. The figure is published on this page before launch and before anything can be bought — no trial that turns into a subscription, no tier holding your own plan hostage, and thirty days to ask for the money back on whatever the figure turns out to be.

The terms

  • Pricing published before launch
  • Private by construction — on-device
  • No ads, no engagement mechanics
§ III

§ III — Questions

Asked, answered,
printed.

The questions people in recovery — and the people beside them — actually send before they will put this on a phone.

I already count days. Do I need this too?

Not necessarily. If you are counting, Day One — No. 01 in the same register — is the counter, and it holds the number on its own. North Star holds the other half — the reasons, the warning signs, the people, the next right action. Some people want both, most people start with the one that matches the harder problem. We would rather you took one than felt sold two.

Who can read what I write in it?

You. The plan is written on your device and stays there — private by construction, on-device — so there is no copy at our end to read, sell, subpoena, or leak. No account is required to write it. If you want a sponsor, a partner, or a clinician to see it, you export it and send it yourself; nothing leaves the phone on its own.

What is this going to cost?

The price is published on this page before launch, and nothing can be bought until it is. There is no trial that becomes a subscription and no tier that holds part of your own plan back. Whatever the figure is, thirty days to ask for the money back comes with it.

Is North Star treatment, or advice?

No. It is a place to keep a plan you and the people treating you have already made, and it is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not adjust doses, interpret symptoms, or tell you what your night means. Decisions about medication and treatment belong with your prescriber.

What if tonight is the emergency, not the plan?

Call 988 — the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, free and confidential, at any hour. For treatment referral, SAMHSA's National Helpline is 1-800-662-4357, free and confidential, in English and Spanish. If someone may be in immediate danger, call 911 now. Reaching for one of those is not a failure of the plan; it is the plan.

The register

Be written in for the day North Star opens.

One address, kept on our ledger and used twice at most: the day the price is published, and the day it ships. No newsletter follows it, and it is never attached to anything you write in the app.
